An extremely elegant sample of Chenin Blanc. Light straw in colour. Delicate nose with a gentle bouquet of green melon and white pear develop into a more savoury melange of mineral notes with hints of citrus blossoms and candied fruits.

In the Cellar
After pressing the juice was cooled down to allow settling, before it was racked of its lees. The juice was then inoculated with lees. The juice was then inoculated with yeast and fermented between 12-14°C.
About the winery: Whalehaven
Whalehaven is the third oldest wine producer in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Named after the protective bay that shelters breeding Southern Right whales in the cool Cape winter months, this boutique winery situated outside Hermanus, creates a delightful array of wines that intrigue and tantalise the palate.
The Walker Bay Region
The Overberg district was named as such due to its location in relation to Cape Town. Overberg means “over the berg” as one has to travel over the Hottentot-Holland Mountains from Cape Town to reach it. Traditionally it was associated with apple growing and grape-juice production but recently is is being associated with the production of high-quality wine. Many famous wineries from other regions (such as Paarl and Franschhoek) have established vineyards here, especially in the Klein River ward near Stanford. The area is also known for its heavy wheat production and Fynbos scrubland surrounding it. White wine grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc enjoy the relatively cool climate here. Red wine grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Shiraz also perform well here.
